Today, Marie-Pierre Gramaglia, Minister of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development, was the guest at a breakfast meeting held by the Junior Economic Chamber.  At this meeting, she presented the main points of the Principality's energy and climate policy:  energy, construction, mobility, waste, communication and awareness-raising.

After recalling the environmental commitments made by Monaco via the ratification of international Agreements - the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (1994), Kyoto (2006) and Paris (2016) - Marie-Pierre Gramaglia explained the aims of the Principality's energy transition policy, in particular Monaco's action to promote energy saving and increase the local production of renewable energy.

Ms. Gramaglia then discussed and developed various themes related to energy transition – the national pact (which will soon be implemented), the solar survey, the National Green Fund, an end to oil-fired central heating in existing buildings, the exemplary "positive energy" public construction project and the call made to young entrepreneurs and start-ups to develop "clean energy" solutions locally.

Concluding her speech, Marie-Pierre Gramaglia emphasised that, "Energy transition has become a priority, a challenge that is understood and shared by civil society.  It requires the involvement of everyone, on a daily basis, with the adoption of eco-friendly habits.  We need a change in pace – the aims of reducing greenhouse gases by 50% by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 will only be achieved by acting four times more quickly than at present."
