Klaxit: a Monegasque success

7-Bilan-Klaxit

To mark 21st European Mobility Week, partners and institutions were invited to an event celebrating the two-year anniversary of Klaxit’s launch in the Principality.

The event was attended by Céline Caron-Dagioni, Minister of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development, who reiterated the key pillars of the Government’s mobility policy, and Julien Dejanovic, Director of Digital Services, who stressed the unique opportunity to develop smart mobility in the Principality using digital technology. The presentation concluded with a report on the last two years, and stories and feedback from the initiative’s partner organisations.

Since 2020, the car sharing solution has benefitted from Government co-funding, which applies to any person travelling to or from the Principality. This public–private collaboration is part of the State’s plan to reduce car traffic by 20% by 2030 (compared with 2019), while absorbing the additional traffic likely to result from Monaco’s economic development. The target is to return to the levels of traffic seen in the 1990s.

The review highlights the growing success of the app with partner companies (of which there are currently 35, employing around 15,000 staff) and the general public (who account for 54% of journeys). In addition, thanks to increased communications in recent months, more cross-border workers from Italy are using the app to travel to the Principality. Their journeys account for 24% of those made.
