Corinne Le Quéré, climate scientist and President of France’s High Council for the Climate, meets National Pact signatories

Corinne Le Quéré

French-Canadian climate scientist and President of France’s High Council for the Climate, Corinne Le Quéré, joined the signatories of the  National Energy Transition Pact at Monaco’s Stars’n’Bars on 11 February 2020. The aim was to share her knowledge and respond to the challenges of the climate emergency.

In a packed room, around 100 participants benefitted from her expert view of climate challenges, national carbon trajectories and recommendations for accelerating them.

This particularly interesting topic generated lively enthusiasm during the debate session which followed, resulting in a fascinating series of questions and answers, with everyone feeling affected by and invested in these vitally important issues.

Corinne Le Quéré was determined to make her presentation accessible, enabling everyone to grasp concepts which are sometimes considered specific, technical or obscure in the eyes of the public.

In short, it was a friendly, educational evening with a focus on expertise, and accompanied by some good news: the stagnation of greenhouse gas emissions at the global level.

The event was also an opportunity for Monaco Info to ask Corinne Le Quéré about her research, missions and objectives, and about what we can do to combat climate change.
