Monaco ON: progress continues!

5-Monaco On_ ça avance

Officially launched in September 2020, the Monaco ON scheme provides charging stations for electric vehicles in the Principality to meet demand for more powerful, faster charging that is available to as many users as possible. For nearly a year now, Monaco ON has been expanding, not only in terms of the number of charging stations and users, but also in terms of its prominence.

Let’s take a closer look at the latest progress in sustainable mobility!

Monaco ON at the Ever Monaco exhibition

A key date in the green events calendar for 16 years, the Ever exhibition was held at the Espace Fontvieille big top in the Principality from 5 to 7 May 2021. As in previous years, the aim of the event was to promote electric vehicles and eco-mobility more generally.

Since mobility is one of the three priorities for the Mission for Energy Transition, our team naturally took part in this year’s exhibition, at which we had two stands, one dedicated to the National Pact and the other specifically showcasing, for the first time, the Monaco ON charging stations.

On Thursday 6 May, our team welcomed an official visit by H.S.H. Prince Albert II, who stopped by both of our stands. This provided the Mission’s Director, Annabelle Jaeger-Seydoux, with an opportunity to present to the Prince the stand dedicated to the National Pact and the mobilisation of the Monegasque community, as well as its new “little brother”, focused on Monaco ON. She was also able to discuss mobility issues with the Sovereign.

New roll-outs in the Principality

Meanwhile, the roll-out of new charging stations continues. By the end of July 2021, there will be 154 charging stations in public car parks (available for public use) and 13 on-street stations (offering a total of 25 charging points), which makes an additional 6 on-street stations and 114 in car parks.

These figures will be higher still by the end of the year, with several car parks set to be equipped and another seven on-street charging stations due to be installed. The aim is for every resident to have access to a charging point within 150 metres of their home!

There is no doubt that the Monaco ON charging stations with their bright yellow branding and powerful rapid charging capability have now become perfectly integrated into the local landscape. And the cherry on top of the cake is that it is free to park in these locations while you’re charging your vehicle!
