EWWR 2022: Waste is out of fashion!
For the fourth year in a row, the Principality is taking part in the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR), which is taking place from 19 to 27 November 2022 in Europe and from 21 to 27 November in the Principality of Monaco (due to the national holiday).
EWWR is a European initiative that calls for the implementation of sustainable resource and waste management awareness activities in all participating countries, both European and non-European. It is coordinated in the Principality by the Prince’s Government Department of the Environment, which is inviting everyone to help raise awareness and get involved in the initiative.
The theme that has been proposed for 2022 is “Circular and Sustainable Textiles” with the slogan “Waste is out of fashion!”
The textiles and clothing industry has a huge environmental and social impact: from production to distribution and including the final management of waste, most often by means of incineration. EWWR thus invites us to rethink the “fashion” in which we consume textiles and seek out more sustainable solutions based on the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, or involve a waste collection initiative.
