As part of the Prince’s Government’s energy transition policy, the Public Buildings Maintenance Office is installing photovoltaic panels on the roof of the Institution François d'Assise-Nicolas Barré (FANB) school.

A total of 158 photovoltaic modules have been installed, covering 225 m². They are capable of generating more than 40.36 MWh of electricity, which will be injected directly into the school’s electrical system.

The panels will enable the school to meet 26% of its electricity needs and will help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by nearly 4 tonnes of CO2 per year.

To ensure a better aesthetic fit within the Monaco-Ville district, the installation makes use of a new generation of coloured panels. Some have also been made to measure in order to match the shape of the roof.

The school is now the twenty-sixth public institution in the Principality to be equipped with solar panels, which cover a total area of 1,968 m² in the country, can generate 1,039 MWh and are reducing CO2 emissions by 58 tonnes per year.
