How to request a subsidy for an energy audit

Principle and conditions

Property owners can request a subsidy to carry out an energy audit of their building.

The aim of the subsidy is to encourage owners to act in advance of the legal obligation to conduct an energy audit: the earlier the audit is completed, the higher the amount of subsidy that will be awarded.

The date of the audit invoice will be used to establish the rate of reimbursement, which depends both on the year in which the audit is carried out and the building’s date of completion, according to the table below:

The amount of the grant is capped depending on the percentage reimbursed:

Percentage reimbursed 75% 50% 25%
Cap in € 10 000 6 700 3 400

The content of the audit and the methods to be used are available in Appendix IV to the Ministerial Decree no. 2018-613 of 26 June 2018: Energy Audit Specifications – Section VI  .

In order to take advantage of the subsidy, audits must be conducted in accordance with these specifications and by a company holding one of the following qualifications:

  • OPQIBI 1905
  • AFNOR 01 A (Building energy audits)
  • LNE (qualification for energy audit providers – Buildings)
  • ICERT (qualification 01-01 Energy audits for commercial buildings and/or apartment complexes)
  • Another appropriate qualification specific to Monaco

For information, the following companies hold these qualifications (this list is not exhaustive):

Provided that the request is approved by the Mission for Energy Transition, the subsidy may be awarded to the following applicants:

  • Building owners
  • Authorised representatives of jointly owned properties where there are a number of joint owners
  • Entire co-ownership groups, which may comprise private or public owners, via the managing agent or representative, where there is no legally established managing agent

The subsidy will be available until no later than:

  • 1 January 2022 for buildings constructed between 1930 and 1990
  • 1 January 2025 for buildings constructed between 1991 and 2013
  • 1 January 2028  for all buildings constructed before 1930
